The big news in golf — that doesn't involve sending a woman straight to the moon — is Match Play will be used as the TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP format in 2028. There's some videos out there explaining the format and two-week process... it looks awesome... and they're actually going to play out all 16 spots once it gets to the bracket rounds. Amazing. As the LIV butterfly finally dies, the effect of the rogue league flapping it's wings is clear. The PGA TOUR will be the best version of

We've made it! The most exciting stretch of golf is here, the PGA TOUR Playoffs! Over the next three weeks we'll see Memphis, St. Louis, and Atlanta — all spots where the heat index will be over 100 — as players battle it out for $180+ million! If that doesn't get your juices flowing, nothing will. Nevermind you could build six world-class golf courses with that amount! But alas, it'll all be blown up... eventually... maybe. This year 70 players remain for the first event, an

The season is chugging along, as we head to Scotland this week for the Scottish Open. We also have an opposite field event with the ISCO Championship in Kentucky. Between those two events, all of your players should be teeing it up. Criminally... they're both worth the same amount of points! The remnants of a broken schedule system. Speaking of... since I last checked in, the PGA TOUR finally announced changes I've been wanting to see for years. A "smaller" track of top event

Meaningful professional golf is back! This week is a return to Shinnecock Hills for the US Open, and we're in for a treat. Shinnecock is probably the best true American links course in the country. Firm, fast, windy... it's as close to Scotland as we're going to see. Built in 1931, it hosted the 2nd ever US Open as one of the founding 5 clubs of America. We last saw it in 2018 — damn, that was 8 years ago — when Brooks Koepka won his 2nd Major. That year was peak USGA set-up

For the 5th time in six weeks, we have an elevated/signature/Major event! My senses would be overloaded if I had paid much attention since the Masters. The "ratings" might imply otherwise, but I'm sure most of you are in the same boat — casually tuning in on Sunday but not actually locked into the coverage and story lines at Doral or Quail Hollow. But fear not, dear reader, as the most juiceless Major is now upon us. Which means something crazy will happen and this could be a

We just had a very entertaining Masters where 3 smooth-brained individuals (I'm one of them) got top points for the Rory McIlroy victory... only to have Scheffler finish solo 2nd and mitigate our points advantage! The golf on Sunday was sloppy all around, with a handful of guys kicking themselves this week knowing they easily could have won. It was a very mentally draining experience for the golfers and fans alike. So of course we're now on to a Signature Event at Harbour Tow

The actual first Major is upon us, and the field seems wide open - mainly because Scottie Scheffler (who has never finished outside the top 20 in this event) isn't dominating the season. He also just had his 2nd kid a couple of weeks ago, so there's understandably some doubt about the clear # 1 favorite. Defending champion Rory is now allegedly "freed up" after finally overcoming his demons at Augusta. But one reason only three players have ever repeated is because of all the

We had Collin Morikawa and Jacob Bridgeman win the Siggy Events the past two weeks. For Collin it's a sign he's "returning to form"... and for The Bridge Man a continued rise to the top 10 in the world. Jacob might have been a steal for the three people who took him in group 3.2. But after scoring 27 points last year as an un-drafted, it wasn't really a reach. This week we have the Cognizant Classic down at PGA National. This tournament used to be heralded as one of the tough

Heading into the first "Signature Event" of the season, and we're starting to see who of the youth movement is planting their flag: Chris Gotterup (group 3.1) - 26 points Ryan Gerard (3.2) - 16 points Jake Knapp (3.2) - 10 points Nicolai Hojgaard (4.1) - 10 points They'll be tested against a Major-worthy field this week as everyone descends on Pebble Beach for free money and points. Every top ranked non-LIV player who is healthy will be teeing it up on a course that is vastly

Patrick Reed won last week in Dubai — and nobody wrote him in. I miss Patrick Reed... and it sounds like he might not resign this year with LIV, which is crazy since their season starts next weekend. If he doesn't sign, he'll play the European Tour in hopes of finishing near the top of their standings for an automatic PGA TOUR card. Nicolai Hojgaard was the only play in the desert to score some points in the pool. Out in California, Scottie Scheffler won the first of 15 event

Chris Gotterup continued his quick ascension into elite TOUR status with his 3rd win in three years, snagging the Sony Open in Hawaii with a clutch 6-under 64 on Sunday for a two-shot victory over Ryan Gerard. This also came just a week after a victory in his TGL debut for the Atlanta Drive! About 30% of the pool has him, so he's not exactly under the radar. This might be the last time for awhile we see golf in Hawaii, as the TOUR (hopefully) is considering starting the seaso

Welcome back to another year of the Scottie Scheffler Tour. Since his arrival in 2020, he's been dominating the competition and has been the top points earner for the last four years. Pairing him with someone to even out the distribution is an impossible task. The only player close to his level is Rory, and he's light years away — which is why only three suckers (myself included) took him this year. We're slowly starting to see the PGA TOUR act like a serious sports product.

It was an unexpected end to the season with Tommy Fleetwood winning his first ever TOUR event yesterday. I'm not the kind of person who...
