We had some mediocre scoring last week, but our leader (Jared) still managed to slightly pull away from the field.

Thankfully exciting golf returns tomorrow (tonight?) as we enter the final Major of the year. You have to go all the way down to 41st in the World Rankings to find someone missing The Open — Cameron Davis who somehow failed to qualify.

The course — Royal Troon — is a delight. Maybe not the most stunning layout on TV, but it's probably the most similar course in the rota to St. Andrews. Out-and-back with a weird loop in the middle. Tight OB on the back nine. And more penal due to thick gorse and deeper fairway bunkers.

Unfortunately, it's been a very wet winter and spring, so it won't be as firm and fast as I'd like to see. This means scoring will be low, and the leader board should be jam packed at the top.

The weather could always worsen out of nowhere and eliminate half the field from contention... but I think it's going to be a mild week. Regardless, it's great to see meaningful golf in the morning. "Coffee Golf," as the influencers say.

"A hyper-realistic image of a coffee mug, with the Scotland flag on it, swinging a golf club. Coffee is spilling from the mug as he swings."

We also have an alternate event on our schedule at the Barracuda Championship. Pay no attention to that.

Good luck!
