Scottie Scheffler won again, and I can't come up with anything new to say about it. The "Scottie is too boring" people will eventually change their tune, as dominance always becomes intriguing eventually.
He's off for a bit on new dad duties... so we might see him at the Wells Fargo (signature event) in three weeks.
Until then, we have some turds on the calendar.
Up first is the Zurich Classic in New Orleans — an event that doesn't get World Ranking points (because it's a team format.. shout-out LIV) — but does get FedEx points and future exemptions.
I've gone back-and-forth on my opinion of this event. The original tournament as a 72-hole stroke play format sucked. Nobody of note played it unless a sponsor forced them. The spot on the schedule was terrible (still is).
So the change to a two-man team is a huge improvement!
It's taken a few years for players to buy in... but we're now seeing higher ranked golfers teaming up together for a relaxed week of point hoarding. For instance, Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowery decided to play together after an afternoon of drinking and celebrating their Ryder Cup victory. Other top parings include Xander/Cantlay and Zalatoris/Theegala. Those will be fun to watch!
And yet, I probably won't watch any of it. This event should be lower-tier guys trying to move up to the signature tournaments, and thus not worth any FedEx points. And it also should have been played last week (following a Major), with signature Harbour Town this week.
The most laughable part... anyone who is "TOUR eligible" can be selected as a partner. So we have Eric Cole choosing to team up with Russ Cochran. Who is Russ Cochran? A 65 year old man who hasn't played a TOUR event in 11 years! And we're supposed to take this seriously?
Oh well... since it's a team format, there will be twice as many players in the points. That's good for us, I guess.

Good luck!
