Akshay Bhatia won the Valero Texas Open last week in a very strange playoff over Denny McCarthy. It was entertaining, but not meaningful outside of Akshay earning a spot in the Masters. All golfers in the points were drafted, which is quite rare for these lower level events.
Enough of that... it's Masters week... the best weekend on the golf schedule! And worth double-points in our pool.
Not the best tournament, in my opinion, as there's way too much fluff in the field and the weather tends to suck (not in a good way like at the British Open). But nonetheless, this is THE biggest stage in golf, and rightfully means more than anything else.
Tradition, legacy, fan experience... all the crap the TOUR claims to care about is actually a thing at Augusta National, where the jacket means way more than the money.
The relevant LIV guys are back this week for those of you who took a chance on them.
Tiger is attempting to set a new record with 24 made cuts in a row. Regardless of what happens... I'm somewhat convinced this might be his last Masters tournament. He doesn't look like he's having any fun out there.
Scottie Scheffler is the biggest Masters favorite since Tiger in the early 2000s... despite the very real possibility his wife goes into labor 3-weeks early and Scottie WDs (which he said he would do).
Rory is once again attempting to conquer his Augusta demons. He was the very last person to arrive on property and check-in to the tournament. And he's also avoiding the media as much as possible.
Jon Rahm is defending his title, and allegedly grumpier than usual due to all the focus on his LIV decision.
And the weather for Thursday looks so bad it might effectively eliminate all players teeing off early in wet and windy conditions.
My outside-the-box pick to win: Ludvig Aberg.

Good luck!
