Two events remaining, and we're down to 50 golfers in the field. In one of the only positive changes to the TOUR schedule, those teeing it up at the BMW Championship this week are all automatically eligible for the Signature Events next year.

So there was at least some consequence to the first round of the "playoffs."

Hideki won last week continuing a very sneaky good year — earning points in only four events — but all Signature or Majors. He's by far the best pick in group 3.1.

Scottie Scheffler extended his lead as the "must pick" in 2024. He also called the playoffs "silly" as he fears a bad round in next week's finals could cost him the season title.

Whereas... a bad round now doesn't matter. Max Homa and Rory McIlroy were down in Spiethland last week, and still easily advanced. This is not a playoff. Playoffs don't reward regular season excellence, beyond allowing you to qualify.

Golf needs a hard reset, in all areas. I've seen rumors that a couple of LIV players are trying to return now that their initial 3-year contracts are up. It'll be interesting to see how that works... keeping in mind that someone like Brandon Grace is 5th on the LIV money list with $25 million.

That's the same amount the FedEx Cup winner now earns! I wasn't even aware until this week it had grown to that astronomical number. What does money even mean anymore? Nobody is watching because of the payouts.

In fact, nobody is watching. Last weeks viewership ratings were down about a million people compared to last year (2.2M vs 3.2M)... when Lucas Glover beat Patrick Cantlay in a playoff. And only about 300k people are watching LIV each week on the CW.

Professional golf is in trouble.

Good luck!
