The Frenchman — Matthieu Pavon — won at the Farmers last week. It was nice to have prime-time golf on TV... but I can't say it was very exciting. Selected golfers in the points were: N. Hojgaard, Hossler, Finau, Aberg, P. Rodgers, Pendrith and Schauffele.
Speaking of Finau, he's now the ONLY player in group 1.2 (55% selected) still on TOUR. Tyrrell Hatton just jumped ship to LIV, along with current top write-in Adrian Meronk. There's still some rumors out there of other defections (Viktor Hovland?) but eventually the shake-up will die down for the season. I hope.
It also sounds like the TOUR is taking American private-equity money (Strategic Sports Group), to the tune of $3 billion. They're still negotiating with the Saudis. Which means... LIV isn't going anywhere and those players probably aren't joining the TOUR in 2024.
Every golfer in the top 30 that are not in LIV is at Pebble Beach this week for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Here's some good news about the event:
The "pro-am" part has been reduced to just Thursday and Friday. No more Larry the Cable Guy doing his tired shtick in the middle of a 6.5 hour round on the weekend.
They're only playing two courses (Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill) instead of three.
Top players with no cut is considered by many to be a "good" thing. I'd rather see a cut, but whatever.
Unfortunately, the weather all weekend might be shit. Soggy conditions with the bulk of the rain coming Sunday. You can remove the clowns, but the tournament might still be a circus. Potentially with a Monday finish.

Good luck!
