We finally had some good golf on TV out at Pebble Beach last weekend. Most of the top players in the world faced some difficult conditions, and it produced a compelling final day. That is, until Rory separated from the field to win by a couple strokes. Still, it was refreshing to be somewhat entertained by professional golf.

Perhaps that feeling will continue with the always entertaining WM Phoenix Open. They're really trying to tone down the drunkeness of the event this year... and I'm skeptical of their ability to change the culture. But it would be nice if the idiots on 16 stop throwing beers on the green every time someone makes a putt.

Which looks something like this according to AI.

Anyway, the tournament is exciting because of the finishing stretch at TPC Scottsdale. The short stadium par-3 16th is everything TGL wishes it was. The driveable par-4 17th can produce a wide range of scores. And the 18th hole used to be a beast... but is now a legit birdie opportunity.

The field is strong with Scottie, Hideki, and Wyndham ranked in the top 10. And six of the last nine years have gone to a playoff.

I'll be more tuned into this than the Super Bowl most of America didn't want to see.

Good luck!
