Scottie Scheffler is back to playing like the world's best golfer, winning for the first time since last year's PLAYERS Championship. He was a very popular pick this season, despite struggling with the flatstick. Those issues might be over now that he finally switched to a mallet putter.
Not that a "mallet" is scientifically better than "blades." But putting is mostly mental. If something isn't working... change it. Try a new grip, putter head, close your eyes, whatever!
Interestingly enough, none of Scottie's seven victories happened after April. I'm not sure how that's possible.
Across a smaller pond — a handful of guys you've never heard of scored points at the Puerto Rico Open (3 drafted, two of which were write-ins). Congrats if you stole some random freebie points.
"Signature" event this week at THE PLAYERS. Just about all your non-LIV guys should be in the field (144 in total). It's also worth 2.0x in the pool. That's right... as much as I've said over the years this tournament will never be a Major... we treat it like one!
I'm personally just against the arbitrary creation of legacy and meaning. If you're allowed to decree something as "major" — even though that did (somewhat) happen when the original Majors were printed as such — then you lose all credibility of the product. The TOUR would have 8 "Majors" by now if they could.
That doesn't mean this tournament isn't a huge deal. It's probably better than some of the actual Majors in certain years. Maybe even better than the PGA Championship in all years.
Anyway, TPC Sawgrass is so tricky, nobody has ever successfully defended a PLAYERS title. The closest anyone has had multiple wins is 6 years apart. The course is one of the greatest tests, and thus doesn't suit anyone.
Check it out and enjoy the golf.

Good luck!
